• Shaun Davey, Chief Executive Officer

    Shaun joined IPL in 1984 after completing a PhD in computer control at the University of Bath. During the 1980's Shaun worked on a number of major software projects in the Defence, Energy and Utilities sectors. He became a member of IPL's executive management team in 1990 when he was appointed as IPL's Software Technology Manager. Shaun played a major role in the development of IPL's software testing products business and was responsible for the development of the company's QMS and supporting infrastructure.

    He has been responsible for the management and successful delivery of several of IPL's largest software projects. In 2005 Shaun became Sales and Marketing Director and was responsible for rebuilding the company's sales function and starting IPL's transformation into a sales-led company. He was instrumental in IPL's successful 2008 MBO and as a result is now CEO. Shaun is totally committed to driving the business to deliver its potential.

  • Jon Carter, Chief Finance Officer

    Jon joined the Board of IPL in September 2007. Jon trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant within the Corporate Finance and Corporate Recovery practices of PWC. After three years as a Regional Commercial Director within Compass Group PLC, Jon spent six years with a private equity backed manufacturing business.

    In this period, the management team successfully completed a leveraged buy out and three years later, an exit to a private equity backed group. Jon's main contribution after joining IPL has been to complete the refinancing of the business through the Vendor assisted MBO, and will now be focussed on delivering the group's strategy to grow shareholder value.

  • John Davey, Chief Operating Officer

    John was appointed as COO in 2010 taking responsibility for IPL's service delivery. In 2008, John was part of the team that successfully completed the MBO and he continues to reshape IPL to meet the future needs of its customers. John was originally appointed to the senior management team in 2000 when he took on the role of Divisional Manager for IPL's Telecoms sector and was promoted to the IPL Board as an Operations Director in 2005.

    John initially joined IPL in 1983, having attained a degree in Physics at the University of Bath. In 1996 he joined ViewStar/Mosaix working as a Principal Workflow Consultant before returning to IPL 2½ years later. During his two spells at IPL John worked in various technical and managerial roles across a diverse range of successful projects within the Defence, Telecoms and Transport sectors.

  • Jim Thomas, Chief Technical Officer

    Jim was appointed to the Board in 2005 having previously been a member of the senior management team as Head of Consultancy Services. He was part of the management team that completed the MBO in 2008. As Head of Consultancy Services he was responsible for a long track record of highly successful consultancy projects for clients across a range of sectors including the Public Sector and Financial Services.

    Prior to this he gained considerable hands-on experience of project management and complex systems design, development and integration. Jim graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Mathematics, before gaining a PhD also at Bristol.

  • Carl Edgar, Sales & Marketing Director

    Carl is an accomplished sales professional with over 15 years of experience in high value IT solution sales. Carl re-joined IPL in July 2008 to take over the role of Sales Director from Shaun Davey. Previously, Carl was one of IPL's top performing business development consultants focussing on the telecoms sector before leaving to take up senior sales management roles, initially with Tertio (now Evolving Systems) and then Cartesian.

    Carl combines a proven sales track record with a solid technical background. He graduated from Kings College, London with a degree in Electronic Engineering and spent the early part of his career as an Engineer Officer in the Royal Navy before moving into the commercial sector.

  • Mike Johnson, Group Chairman

    Mike co-founded IPL in 1979 and, for most of the next 26 years, was responsible for all sales, admin, finance, quality and commercial activities within the company.

    Following the successful MBO in April 2008, Mike became Group Chairman with the intention of moving to non-executive chairmanship after a comprehensive handover programme has been completed.

  • Steve Alexander, Divisional Director

    Banking & Finance Sector

    Steve joined IPL's senior management team in 2006, was part of the team that completed the MBO and is now responsible for the successful delivery and growth of IPL's business in the Banking and Finance sector.

    Steve graduated in 1983 and joined IPL in 1987. Prior to taking up his management role, Steve performed a variety of high profile client–facing technical and management roles on successful projects within finance, telecoms and defence sectors.

  • Emma Goodwin, Divisional Director

    Telecoms & Digital Media Sector

    Emma joined IPL in 1988 after graduating from Bath University with a degree in Mathematics. Until recently she worked in a variety of technical and project management roles, predominantly in the telecommunications sector.

    Having successfully delivered several high profile projects, Emma joined the senior management team as a Divisional Manager during the 2008 MBO. She is now responsible for ensuring successful service delivery to IPL's customers in the Telecoms & Digital Media sector.

  • David Shepherd, Divisional Director

    Aerospace & Defence Sector

    David became part of IPL's senior management team in 2010 and is responsible for managing its business in the Aerospace and Defence sectors.

    Previously at IPL, David has held a wide variety of client-facing roles from analyst to architect, contractor to consultant, programmer to project manager. Over two decades, he has made a major contribution to IPL's success in several sectors. He joined IPL in 1990 after graduating with a degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the University of Exeter.

  • Andrew Wilcox, Divisional Director

    Civil Government Sector

    Andrew is IPL's Divisional Director for Civil Government, responsible for all commercial activities within the sector. Prior to this Andrew was IPL's Sales Support Director managing the bid response process and overseeing technical pre–sales activities in support of the IPL sales team.

    Andrew joined IPL in 1988 after graduating in Mathematics and Computing at Bath University. He worked on a variety of projects across Telecoms and Defence sectors in both technical and managerial roles, delivering a number of large projects into key customer accounts. In 2005 Andrew joined Aepona as a Solution Architect within their CTO Office, rejoining IPL 3½ years later.

  • Rick Holt, Principal Advisor, Defence and Homeland Security

    Rick is a respected and influential security industry insider. He joined IPL in September 2010 bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to enhance IPL's presence in the sector.

    After a long and distinguished career in the RAF, Rick retired at the rank of Air Commodore specialising in Communications and Security. His last tour was in the Ministry of Defence in the Central Staffs as Policy Director for Defence Communications & Information Systems. In 1997, Rick joined Lockheed Martin UK Ltd as Director for Information Superiority responsible for business development in the Defence and Security sectors.

  • Chris Bradley, Business Consulting Director

    Chris has spent almost 30 years in the Information management field, working for blue-chip organisations in Data Management Strategy, Master Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence. Graduating in 1979 Chris worked for the MoD (Navy), Volvo, Thorn EMI (as Head of Information Management), Readers Digest Inc (as UK CIO), and Coopers and Lybrand Management Consultancy where he established and ran the International Data Management practice.

    Joining IPL in 1997, he ran major international Information management projects including the largest Data Management strategy undertaken in Europe.
